Shooting weddings in South Africa is one of the great joys and adventures of my life. I love that country so much and can not help, but be blown away every time by it’s beauty. The landscape and people are so unique!
Leah and I had a great time documenting Leigh and Stephen’s wedding at Rijk’s Country House in Tulbagh. This little charming town nestled in an ancient volcanic crater was the perfect place for all their family and friends to celebrate with them – and have a little adventurous getaway.
We stayed at the Tulbagh Hotel and enjoyed the little get together they had organized on the Friday night. We caught up with old friends and made some new ones. Even met a Canadian girl that gave up the snow for the warm African sun and a very handsome African man. Imagine that…
I told Leigh the day would fly by, and so it did. One moment we were busy with getting ready shots and the next, people were giving it on the dance floor, under the African stars. Wine was flowing, 90’s rock tunes even inspired this guy to have a little dance with his wife.
My beautiful Leah celebrated her birthday that day as well and I can’t thank her enough for offering to work on the day she turned 29 again…
I am featuring a couple of our favourite frames from the day and hope you enjoy reliving the day with us.
