Destination Winter Wedding in Winnipeg

I’m sure the bulk of you reading this, when hearing the term “destination wedding” picture a group of northerners escaping the winter chills and having a beautiful wedding on the beach. Having a couple escape the warm beaches of Australia to get married on a blustery, winter day in Winnipeg sounds like it just simply doesn’t fit our usual definition. But it happened. And it was awesome!

Please sit back and enjoy some of my favourite moments form this destination wedding at The Best Western Airport Plus.

As always, Madeline’s Weddings & Events really hit a home run. They kept an elegant, yet warm and cozy environment in a Winnipeg deep freeze.

Whitetail Meadow | A Winnipeg Wedding Venue Review

Whitetail Meadow Wedding Venue

I had the great privilege of photographing a couple of weddings at the new, Whitetail Meadow Wedding Venue, just outside of Winnipeg.

As a full time, professional photographer for the last 10 years, it is always exciting when new venues open their doors, especially when it brings something new to the wedding venue scene.

From the Whitetail Meadow Website

“Several years ago, Dave had a vision for a salvaged 80-year-old hip-roof barn and a stunning riverside acreage.  With the help and support of his wife Lori, that vision is now a reality.  Whitetail Meadow.

Dave and Lori worked tirelessly to restore the building and beautify the grounds to make it a one-of-a-kind wedding and events venue nestled in the Red River valley. “

It is a rustic yet modern wedding and events building.  Original barnwood elements and rough-cut timbers juxtapose the clean, bright walls and ceilings and state-of-the art amenities for a perfect marriage of old and new.

Whitetail Meadow Venue Features:

- Seating for 300-320 guests (Depending on table configuration)

I was really impressed by a lot of things, starting with the friendly, kind and super helpful owner, Dave, that greeted me on arrival and had all the time in the world to show me around.

The overall impression of the venue was one of country luxury, with an intimate charm. Perfect for small gatherings or larger parties.

The outdoor ceremony location (there are a few options) was also amazing. On the one side you had the stunning restored Barn and on the other a tranquil pond with trees swaying in the breeze. One felt surrounded by nature, without having to walk deep into the woods.

I also loved that the bride has a little cabin, on the property, where she can do all her getting ready and even stay over for the night before or the night of the wedding. No stress of running from place to place the morning of the wedding.

As a photographer, there is also no shortage of backdrops and interesting elements to incorporate in the photos. We did not even have to leave the venue to create amazing Bride and Groom photos. I also did the formal family photos, close to the trees with the beautiful pond in the foreground.

Here are a few photos to show you how I experienced this amazing venue, and if you were still looking for a wedding venue in and around Winnipeg - I would highly recommend Whitetail Meadow!

Rebecca and Derek’s Destination Wedding at the Olowalu Plantation House Maui, Hawaii was such a great adventure!

Being a part of this intimate wedding was a pleasure and documenting the little moments shared between family and close friends was an honour.

The wales breached the water, the wind came up from the waves as if to clap when they said I do, the sunset was filled with amazing colour and the trees stood guard as they danced into the night.

Stephanie + Ryan's Wedding

A backyard tent wedding in Balmoral, Manitoba

It was September 16, the day before my Birthday. It rained. A lot.

Stephanie and Ryan had their backyard wedding planned on her Dad's property out in Balmoral, Manitoba. Everything did not go as planned weather wise. But it rarely does.

What did go to plan was the celebration of love, friendship, family and a deep and solid connection to community. It was a privilege to document this beautiful day.

Speeches are fun, when kept short and informative, funny, with a light sprinkling of a roast.
