Bride to be

Winter Engagement Photos Birds Hill Park | Giselle + Jon

Winter Engagement Photos Birds Hill Park

What an absolute pleasure to spend some time with Giselle and Jon for their winter engagement photos in Birds Hill Park.

We lucked out with a warm day of 1C. The beginning of the end of winter! Birds Hill Park is one of my favourites, not only because it is easy to find and get around, but also because of the variety in backdrop. It can be tricky during winter, as white is the colour of choice, but looking past that and embracing the beauty of winter, one can’t help but wonder at the absolute uniqueness of this spot.

Giselle and Jon could not be a nicer couple. They were troopers in knee deep snow, laughed, loved and trusted me 100% with capturing who they are and where we were.

I feel more than ready for their big day and look forward to capturing more beautiful moments and creating new art for their walls.

These are a few of my favourite frames from their session.

Winter Engagement Photo Shoot in Morris, Manitoba | Larissa + Andrew

Winter Engagement Photo Shoot in Morris, Manitoba

I’ve known Larissa for most of my life.  We are both from a small town in Southwestern Manitoba.  A town of under 1,000 people.  Although our graduating class was close to 20 people.  We were 2 of only about 10 people who were together right from Kindergarten straight through to graduating high-school.

She always got better grades than me, which meant even though there was only a handful of people in our class, she always got the notoriety and scholarships when they came up, not me.  Her big ol’ brain meant that she usually made fairly smart life choices.

Now, I haven’t seen her much since graduation, so I actually didn’t meet her fiancé, Andrew, until their engagement shoot.  But after spending some time with them, it was really cool to see that once again, she has made an excellent life decision.  I’m really looking forward to getting to shoot their wedding.

Moody Winnipeg Wedding Inspiration with Regal Undertones

Old World Elegance Wedding Photography & Styling Inspiration

The Millennium Centre is in the heart of the Exchange District in downtown Winnipeg, Canada and one of the most popular wedding venues.

The building is primarily abandoned today, and has the feeling of forgotten grandeur. Peeling plaster has taken on the appearance of beautifully marbled walls, and a forgotten fireplace served as a wonderful backdrop for our table. This aging beauty set the tone for our moody and upscale shoot.

Winnipeg Wedding Photographer veil Boudoir

It was important for us to have the photos illuminate the sensual confidence of our bride, as well as her glowing gracefulness. The dress by Anna Lang was chosen for its flow and movement as much as for the rich earth tones.

You don’t have to be in white on your wedding day – you just have to select a dress that makes you feel beautiful and confident.

We layered the table with classic pieces, adding dark, edgy tones for a modern touch. Don’t be afraid to mix it up!

Calligraphy is such a beautiful way to add romance to your table, and can be used for table numbers, escort cards, or menus. Here we used it to add just the perfect pop of gold.

The elegantly marbled cake design shows that your wedding cake doesn’t need to be overly elaborate to make a huge impact.

The rich color palette was completed with the touches of antique oranges and pinks against the deep purples of the flowers.

The tones selected make this palette perfect for all seasons. With Ultra Violet being the Pantone color of the year, purple tones are everywhere, so we were very happy to be able to share how easily it can be incorporated into your wedding planning.

I met Chris at the Wedding Show a year or so ago. Just him, doing research for the big day. I'm not going to say Melissa was on holiday, but she was not able to attend the Show.... : )

It was such a pleasure to explore the areas around Gimli with these two lovely people. Starting off in Camp Morton and ending on an island. It was amazing.  I just love the range of photos we have. From funny, to intimate to scenic to emotional.

Thank you so much for inviting me into this private space, for trusting me to capture it for you and for being so amazing to each other. It's beautiful to witness.

Please click play for music, slowly scroll through the photos and enjoy the emotion, memory and story of each.

Doing Engagement Photos in Birds Hill Park can never be boring. The colors, the textures, the scenery is forever changing.  I took Charmaine and Leoven down the Cedar Bog walk, on the North Drive and it did not disappoint.

If you look at these and think that I might have taken photos of Dwayne The Rock, well, Ill let you think about that some more.
