Family Fun in the Rockies | Banff National Park

We had some down time before and after our Banff wedding and used it to explore the stunning surroundings.  We really enjoyed Canmore and Banff National Park.  Such amazing world class beauty right here at home.

A cabin in the mountains by a river... Now that would be amazing.

Winnipeg Fine Art Family Portrait Photography with Gillian and Family

I just had Gillian and Vince over for their family portrait screening session and loved the moment of silence when the slide show ended.  That split second of silence and the ghost of a tear. Love it.

I really enjoyed their family / engagement session out at Grand Beach.  It was a bit of a gloomy day with a coldish wind, but it just added to the final look and feel of the images, in a good way I think.

I am happy to share a couple of frames.

Winnipeg Fine Art Portrait Session with Jennifer and Family

I felt very honoured when Jennifer Tower asked me if I could do her family portraits.  Jennifer is also a photographer here in the city and for some reason I felt more pressure than I needed to... First time for me shooting another photographer's family, but in the end knew it had to be the same as I approach all my sessions. Unique and true to who I am as an artist.

I just wanted it to be very special and real and it was on film.

We went out to Gimli to walk around, get to know each other a bit and for me to observe how the three of them interacted with one another.  I love highlighting elements, emotions, looks - the little things - that family members have with one another and not necessary with everybody.

Shooting the session on film was also extra special for me and I think made it all just that tad more real.  The imperfection of film is it's perfection!

I am happy to share a couple of frames from their session and also want to invite those thinking about doing a session like this to get in touch.

Family and Friends can view all the images in their online gallery.
