Qualico Family Centre Wedding
One of our favourite times of the year is when we get to do a Qualico Family Centre wedding in Winnipeg IN THE WINTER!
Lesya and Kellen had an amazing wedding with a full traditional wedding ceremony and a very elegant reception with close family and friends. It was a cold day, make no mistake, but that all seemed to fade to to the background with the laughter, emotion and general and genuine feel good vibes.
These are a few of my favourite moments and one photo in particular means a lot to me as a documentarian on people's lives and stories. It's the photo of Lesya holding an original print from her parent's wedding day.
As we learn, as we grow and we win and as we lose - the moments change and the things that remind us of those moments change and one thing that is for sure, is that a photo of a precious moment only grows in value over time.
It was a great honour for Leah and myself to be invited to capture these moments for Lesya and Kellen and can only wish them well and many happy and fond memories as they look back at these photos over the course of their lives. I sincerely hope I am still connected to them, one day, when their kids can have a photos of this day, at their wedding as well.
Congratulations guys. We love you!!
Hotel Fort Garry Wedding in Winnipeg
What a great pleasure it was to photograph another stunning Hotel Fort Garry Wedding in Winnipeg. This time, Leah and I had the pleasure of spending the day with Carmen, Kevin and their group of lovely family and friends.
We had a magical first look in Assiniboine Forest, before heading to the most elegant wedding ceremony and reception, designed and coordinated by the team at Soiree Weddings & Events.
I can’t be happier with the way the film turned out and wish this beautiful couple nothing but the most amazing adventures, love and laughter on the rest of their journey.
Please enjoy their highlights slideshow and a few of my favourite frames from the day. The full link to their entire gallery at the end of the page.
This sums up who Meghan and Oliver are. Kind, generous and caring. I loved this reading from their wedding. It's from the Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams
"What is REAL?" asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. “Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?"
"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."
"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.
"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. “When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."
"Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?"
"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept.
Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."
"I suppose you are real?" said the Rabbit. And then he wished he had not said it, for he thought the Skin Horse might be sensitive. But the Skin Horse only smiled.
"The Boy's Uncle made me Real," he said. "That was a great many years ago; but once you are Real you can't become unreal again. It lasts for always."
Family and Friends are invited to view all the photos in their online gallery.
