Today I would like to feature a set of images from Simmy and Kunit’s temple ceremony. It was a traditional Sikh ceremony held in the Sri Guru Singh Sabha temple on Sturgeon.
It was such an amazing morning with beautiful light, singing family and friends, a white horse and ancient traditions. The most moving part of the day for me was when Simmy and Kunit left her parents house at the end of the day.
This emotional part of the day is also known as the Doli ceremony. Essentially the bride leaves her parents home and is led away to her new home – the home of the groom’s parents. I was right up in front of Kunit’s face shooting back over and as he slowly led Simmy out of the house – the floodgates opened up behind him. It was beautiful, sad and filled with the taste of new beginnings.
I will be sharing more from this amazing wedding during the course of this week. Check back to see the rest of the story.
Friends and Family can view all the photos in the online gallery.
