I felt very honoured when Jennifer Tower asked me if I could do her family portraits. Jennifer is also a photographer here in the city and for some reason I felt more pressure than I needed to… First time for me shooting another photographer’s family, but in the end knew it had to be the same as I approach all my sessions. Unique and true to who I am as an artist.
I just wanted it to be very special and real and it was on film.
We went out to Gimli to walk around, get to know each other a bit and for me to observe how the three of them interacted with one another. I love highlighting elements, emotions, looks – the little things – that family members have with one another and not necessary with everybody.
Shooting the session on film was also extra special for me and I think made it all just that tad more real. The imperfection of film is it’s perfection!
I am happy to share a couple of frames from their session and also want to invite those thinking about doing a session like this to get in touch.
