FAQ | Frequently Asked Questions

Who will be our photographer?

Bond Freyer and Leah Freyer as his assistant. I am a native South African and Leah is a born and bred Canadian.

I am an avid globe trotter. I have captured moments and mysteries throughout Africa, Asia, Europe and Canada. My work is not only admired by private collectors around the globe, but has been praised at various international exhibits, including two solos.

Through my eclectic South African background, characterized by a passion for travel; immersing myself into cultures and communities across the globe, I have created and mastered my own unique genre of photography.

I don’t label myself as just a wedding photographer, but as an artist using a camera to create and capture the beauty in people and their surroundings. I don’t care too much for fake poses and setup shots.

I believe that a true reflection of events evoke more emotions and create a clearer recollection of memories.

To date I have shot weddings in Africa, Asia, Canada and Europe.

What is the difference between a Formal and a Journalistic style?

If you look back at your parent’s and even some friend’s wedding albums, you will see that they all look kind of similar.  That is because the photographers placed people where they wanted them, adjusted hair, fixed an arm and so on, to create a kind of cookie cutter portrait of the wedding.  Although beautiful photos can be created, they all feel a little to unrealistic to me.

The photojournalistic style is a new trend, and by new I mean more people are accepting it and more photographers are trying to reinvent themselves to copy this style.

Most of the day’s memories are captured like a photojournalist would in the field. Capturing the true events as they happen.  When this is done, images are created that reflect the true emotions of the day.

When people are not moved around and rearranged or yelled at, they feel more at ease and beautiful, realistic photos will be the end result.

I do most of my work in this style.  A style that grew from years of travel and contact with different people from different cultures, around the world.  The wedding photos will be a professionally blended mix of Photojournalism and some Fashion shots.

How much time do we need for the photos and when is the best time?

I honestly believe that between 6 and 10 hours on the day of the wedding will be enough to capture enough photos. I don’t think you need a photographer to be with you for the whole day.  A time will come during the day when you just don’t want to see a camera any more.

The best time for outdoor photos is between 1 - 3 hours before sunset. The colours are very rich and the light not too harsh. I have no problem taking photos in the morning, midday, late afternoon or at night.  That is what makes all my shoots unique. Different light creates very different end results.

So, time of day does not really matter to me and I will need between 6 and 10 hours to do the job - depending on the size of the wedding of course.

Why do you recommend an engagement or wedding announcement shoot?

This will give us an opportunity to work together and get to know each other before the big day. This will give you a chance to see how I work and ultimately make you feel more at ease on the big day.

If we’ve done a shoot before the wedding it will be more like a new friend taking photos of you rather than a total stranger. Although I try my best on each shoot to have people be themselves, some couples prefer a session together before the wedding to get to know me.

This way your photos from your engagement / wedding announcement shoot and those of your wedding day will be done by the same photographer, using the same style.

Engagement sessions range between 1 and 2 hours . These photos can be used on or as your wedding invite, in Newspaper announcements or just as beautiful art on your walls.

Can your Options be modified?

Yes, no two weddings are the same. The Options I have available were designed to cover a wide range of needs, yet still be adaptable to specific needs.

When we meet we can discuss any changes or add-ons you would like to make.

All the prices quoted are for weddings within Winnipeg City Limits.  I am available for local and international destinations, with travel costs to be negotiated.

How long before the day should we book you?

If I am available you can book me at least a week before your wedding.

This rarely happens as people book anything from 6 months to 2 years in advance.  This special day only happens once, so make sure you book me well in advance as availability can not be guaranteed!

We like your work and want to book you!  What now?

Give me a call or e-mail so we can check my availability and set up a meeting to sit face to face and discuss your dreams for your special day.

I can show you more of my work and we can go over your needs and talk about the Options available to you.  Once you have decided to book me and know the Option you would like, we will sign a contract.

The contract protects both of us.  It gives you ease of mind knowing your day is booked and you have, on a legal paper, what you paid for and who you paid it to.

A  nonrefundable deposit is payable at signing of the contract.  This will guarantee my availability for your wedding and give you some ease of mind as you don’t have to worry about me again until our
pre-wedding meeting.
